Serving Suggestions
Rinse, cook, and use.
Always rinse before cooking. Quinoa's outer coating contains saponins which taste bitter — a 30-second rinse in a fine-mesh strainer under cold water removes them. Standard cooking ratio is 1 part dry quinoa to 2 parts water (or stock). Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook 15 minutes until the germ-tail is visible. Fluff with a fork. Uses: rice replacement in grain bowls, salads, stuffed peppers, breakfast porridge, as a binder for veggie patties, or chilled for tabbouleh-style cold salads.
